Club CTO Wednesdays!!! July 18th, 2012

Had a blast with Keeba and her tinies and guests during her 7PM set at Club CTO.  Everyone got up on stage and joined the band.

7seas Fishing Contests have begun at The Woods Of Marathon Caye Fishing Dock!

This spring we have begun hosting some 7seas fishing tournaments on Marathon Caye at our fishing dock, at the base of The Arboretum tree on the SW island of the sim.  The response has been overwhelming.

 With a 5K pot in the offering, it's an excellent opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Marathon Caye sim, and put a nice chunk of L$ in your pocket.  The top two pics are from the first tourney.

This pic is from the most recent tourney.  It's significant because during the contests, we've had a mini-concert by our own Cranston Yordstorm.  And if you look, you can see the new mesh mountain surround environment we've added, depicting Yosemite National Park in the U.S.

Nice Reviews of our Spring Look!

The latest addition to The Woods Of Marathon Caye is our new amphitheatre, located near the greenhouse.  We featured our live Wednesday performances out there.

Marathon Caye Fishing Dock & Bounty Hunt featured in SL Destination Guide.

Canoe the waters of Marathon Caye!!!!

The Woods Of Marathon Caye proudly announces the newest way to tour our sim, by means of a birchbark canoe.  This canoe is one of the 4 ways you can tour the sim by water, the others being a rowboat, kayaking, or specially designed boating devices for tinies.  Just another way for you to enjoy your time here and take in the beautiful wooded surroundings.

Explore The Woods On Horseback!

You can now explore The Woods Of Marathon Caye on horseback.  Our new Marathon Caye stables are located to the south of the gazebo on the central island.  Simply click the saddle to choose from 4 breeds, sit on the horse, and after you mount animation completes, wear the horse and HUD, Synchronize and off you go.  These horses rival the AKK horses in detail, but in my humble opinion, offer many options, especially for a rezzable horse.

Enjoy the splendor of Marathon Caye from the freedom of a beautiful steed.  It even allows you to dismount and explore, while the horse stays tethered to a hitching post for up to 30 minutes before it derezzes itself.

Winter Activities in The Woods!

 The Woods Of Marathon Caye is officially winterized, and Taylee and I couldn't be more excited to see how it's received.  We've been entered into the Winter Activities section of the Second Life Destination Guide.

We're just completed a fun Capture-The-Flag style snowball fighting game that makes it so you freeze in place whenever someone hits you with a snowball.

We've also added a horse-drawn sleigh tour of the entire sim.

Behind the mountain, we've erected a curving ice slide, which takes you dozens of meters into the air and down again.

There are also a number of winter activity rezzers, for a canoe, kayak, or rowboat, as well as a two-person sled which also allows you to travel down the side of the mountain together.

Tiny Friendly Woods :)

It's a small step (no pun intended) but we're making The Woods Of Marathon Caye friendly to Tinys.  We've had a tiny kayak option in our kayak rezzer, at our central pond, but have added a couples rowboat and single peapod canoe, all available at the central dock.  We also have a Tiny friendly tree at The Gazebo, at the top of our Trunk Cave, and inside Club CTO.  It's just a start, but since Taylee and I have been taken with these amazing little critters, we wanted to make The Woods Of Marathon Caye Tiny-friendly!

Gina Gracemount RETURNS!!!

After a long patient wait, while she traveled across the pond to her native United Kingdom, Gina Gracemount has RETURNED TO PERFORMING IN SECOND LIFE!!!  She will also be returning to The Woods Of Marathon Caye's own Club CTO on Wednesday afternoons at 12PM SLT.  She has returned actually, past tense!  Yesterday afternoon she brought the burlesque show to the stage of Club CTO, and got the place a-ROCKIN!!!  She'll be returning weekly, and we're super duper excited to see her back!  So for those of you strumpets who have been waiting for a reason to return to our casual blues venue, SHE'S BACK!!  Weekly on Wednesdays at 12PM SLT!!!

Cranston Yordstorm is a performing artist in RL, working theatrical stages from northern California to Cape Cod, Massachusetts over a 20 year career. With an SL singing career that began in late 2009, he brings a Jazzy, Swingey, Bluesey fun time with him wherever he goes. With a varied songlist, there's always a little for everyone. Frank Sinatra,Bobby Darin, Michael Buble, Harry Connick Jr, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Ray Charles and Elvis Presley are just the notables among the choices of musical influences.

Come on out for a swinging good time!!!




BigJim Allerhand ain't young and pretty, he's a long way from thin, but he sure can PLAY THE BLUES!!

Jim grew up in a small town in Southeast Kansas, and was influenced by Blues greats such as Lightnin' Hopkins, Jimmy Reed and Son House. Raised in a small Baptist church, he had the opportunity to merge these musical influences with gospel music.

Keeba Tammas has been part of the Second Life community since early 2007 but did not make her stage debut until 2009. A former professional vocalist, she still
enjoys singing and SL allows her the freedom to indulge in her eclectic taste of rock, jazz and ballads, with a smattering of showtunes.  Her relaxed wit and charm come through with each performance, drawing the listeners into the show and her open request format is a real crowd pleaser. Her love of music and performing come over during her gigs, creating a lively and fun atmosphere. Other performers often remark that Keeba is one of their favorites to listen to.

Once in a while, Cranston or Taylee, the owners of The Woods Of Marathon Caye, will write something on their personal blogs which will be of interest to the visitors of The Woods, and if so, it will be reposted here for your perusal.

Super Fun Pirate Party Wednesday Night

Taylee and Cranston would like to thank everyone for coming out for Cranston's Pirate-themed Birthday party.  It was a wonderful turnout, and it was great to see everyone embracing the pirate theme.  Taylee and Cranston has been having fun the past few weeks doing pirate ship RP battles on the collection of sims called Fair Winds, and it was great to see a number of the Fair Winds pirates in attendance.

Cranston and BigJim Allerhand provided the entertainment, as part of the Wednesday night LIVE music events at Club CTO, and deserve special thanks for being flexible with the venue switch on short notice.

All in all, it was a fun night, complete with a post-concert free-for-all sword and pistol battle ... which ... well ... resorted to battles with Giant Pickle guns.

Cranston Yordstorm Birthday Party Pirate Bash!!!

Cranston here!

My RL birthday is TODAY, September 28th, and we're having a pirate party to celebrate.  The Club CTO performances tonight will be moved to the party space, A cool pirate ship we've erected on the Woods Of Marathon Caye grounds.  The party will have a pirate theme, and we'd love as many people to participate in the theme as would like to.

To that end, if you wanted to come, and felt like donning some pirate garb, here is an LM to a place on a sim called Fair Winds, that is basically your one stop shop for pirate gear.
